VERSE OF THE DAY
1 Peter 5:7 (NIV)

"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."

A WORD FROM YOUR FATHER
My child,

I see the weight you're carrying today.
The racing thoughts that spiral faster than you can catch them. The tightness in your chest that makes even simple decisions feel overwhelming. The way anxiety whispers lies about tomorrow, next week, next year – painting pictures of disasters that haven't happened and may never come.
You've tried to manage it on your own. Made lists, taken deep breaths, told yourself to "just think positive." But anxiety isn't conquered by willpower alone, and I never intended for you to fight this battle in your own strength.
The word "cast" doesn't mean to politely hand over or gently place. It means to throw, to hurl with force. I'm inviting you to take every anxious thought – the big ones and the small ones, the rational fears and the irrational spirals – and throw them at Me like you're getting rid of something heavy that was never yours to carry.
Why can you cast your anxiety on Me? Because I care for you. Not just about you, but for you. I care for your needs like a shepherd tends his sheep. I care for your heart like a father protects his child. I care for your tomorrow like someone who's already there, preparing the way.
Your anxiety doesn't surprise Me or overwhelm Me. I'm not irritated by your worries or tired of hearing about the same fears again and again. Every single concern that keeps you awake at night matters to Me because you matter to Me.
Stop trying to sort through your anxieties, deciding which ones are worth bringing to Me. Bring them all. Cast them all. I have room for every single worry, and strength enough to carry what you cannot.
You don't have to have it all figured out. You just have to let go.
I love you always, Your Father

DEVOTIONAL
The Art of Letting Go

I used to think anxiety was a sign of weak faith.
When my mind would race with worst-case scenarios about everything from my kids' safety to my job security to global events I couldn't control, I'd feel guilty on top of anxious. "If I really trusted God," I'd tell myself, "I wouldn't worry like this."
Then I discovered 1 Peter 5:7, and it completely reframed how I understood anxiety and faith.
Peter doesn't say "don't be anxious" or "just trust more." He gives us a specific action: cast your anxiety on God. The Greek word for "cast" is the same one used for throwing a fishing net or hurling a javelin. It's active, intentional, and forceful.
This verse taught me that dealing with anxiety isn't about having perfect faith – it's about knowing what to do with imperfect feelings.
I started practicing what I call "anxiety throwing." When I felt that familiar spiral beginning – usually about my teenage daughter driving alone or wondering if I'd said the wrong thing in a meeting – I'd literally picture myself gathering up those worries and hurling them toward heaven.
"God, I'm throwing this fear about Sarah's driving at You. I'm hurling this anxiety about my job performance right into Your hands."
What surprised me was how physical this felt. There was relief in the act of release, like setting down a backpack I'd been carrying too long.
The beautiful part of this verse is the reason we can cast our anxiety: "because he cares for you." Not because we deserve it or because we've prayed enough or because we've figured out how to worry less. Simply because He cares.
Anxiety might visit again tomorrow – it probably will. But now I know what to do with it. I don't have to analyze it, justify it, or overcome it on my own. I just have to throw it to the One who's strong enough to catch it and caring enough to want it.

PRAYER
Finding Courage in Presence

Father, I'm tired of carrying these anxious thoughts on my own. Today I choose to cast my anxiety about __________ and __________ directly to You. Thank You that I don't have to sort through my worries or decide which ones are worthy of Your attention. Thank You that You care for me – not just about me, but for me. Help me remember that anxiety isn't a sign of weak faith, but an opportunity to practice the art of letting go. When worry visits again, remind me to throw it to You instead of trying to solve it myself. I trust that You're strong enough to carry what overwhelms me and loving enough to want to. Amen.

TODAY'S PRACTICE
The Anxiety Throw

Next time you feel anxiety rising, try this: Name the specific worry out loud, then physically gesture as if you're throwing it upward while saying, "God, I cast this anxiety on You because You care for me." Notice how the physical act of release affects your emotional state.
